Ghosts of 1919: Rendering A City and a Riot in Poetry and Prose. Sociologist and poet Eve L. Ewing presents passages from her new book Ghosts in the Schoolyard: Racism and School Closings on Chicago’s South Side. She will discuss how this book has inspired 1919, her new collection of poems about the 1919 race riots, from which she will read selections. A Q&A will follow the readings.
