A Map Home

In 2015, Eve Ewing became the first ever artist-in-residence at the Boston Children's Museum. During this residency, she developed a site-specific installation, A Map Home, exploring themes of place, street art and found text, belonging, and whimsy in a format designed to be engaging for infants, young children, and adults. She developed the installation partially in public in the museum, where children could observe and ask questions, and led mid-day activities for visitors, reinforcing the idea that an artist is an average and accessible person. During this time children visiting the museum could also submit questions, which she answered in a series of "Ask Eve" videos designed to be educational and approachable for children and families having conversations about art. A Map Home was on view from December 23, 2015 to March 14, 2016, and was curated by Maggie Cavallo.
